  1. Q:  Could you tell us a little about yourself and how 
  2. you came to know Marshall McLuhan?
  3.  
  4. A:  My name is Tom Cooper. I‚Äôm now a professor at 
  5. Emerson College in Boston, but I knew McLuhan 
  6. during my graduate years when I was one of his 
  7. graduate students and became an assistant. He 
  8. had several people around him working on projects. 
  9. And I recall at the University of Toronto being a 
  10. part of that very exploratory group of individuals. 
  11. It was like an intellectual think tank, an intellectual 
  12. talk show where people gathered on a Monday or 
  13. Wednesday night, you could hear anyone from 
  14. Bucky Fuller to an advertising campaign manager
